Agenda
Day 1 – After a review of basic rock climbing and belaying techniques, you will learn how to properly clip bolts, build anchors, belay a lead climber and safely take falls. Everyone will have lots of chances to try leading but there won’t be any pressure if you aren’t feeling ready.
Day 2 – We will continue practicing the skills learned on day 1 as well as learning how to clean anchors (ie. how to get your rope back without leaving any gear behind) and deal with unexpected situations such as not being able to make it to the top of a climb. For those who are interested there may be the opportunity for an introduction to traditional gear placements and basic multipitch climbing skills as well.
Optional Day 3 – Multipitch Ascent: Course participants can add on a day of multipitch climbing in groups of 1 or 2 people. On the day after the course this is offered at the discounted rate of $500 for 1 person oe $275 each for 2 people. Please request this option in advance. See the rock page for more information on guided ascents.
