The safety, efficiency, and fun that comes with hiring
a professional guide adds greatly to the mountaineering experience. All
guides are highly skilled, and are certified through the Association of
Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG).
Courses & Training
Canadian Rockies Alpine Guides have many years of experience teaching
the skills required to travel safely in the mountains. Mixing a day or
two of skills training in with some guided ascents will allow you to
increase your abilities at a much faster rate. Anyone who has the goal
of becoming a self-sufficient mountaineer should seriously consider
kick-starting the process with some professional instruction. If you
have no experience, doing some Rock Climbing
or Ice
Climbing is a good place to
start.
Glacier Travel Course
- Should be considered mandatory training for anyone who plans on
climbing or skiing in glaciated terrain. Choose from a scheduled
course, or arrange your own. $335. Maximum 6 participants.
Alpine Skills Course
- 5 day mountaineering course designed to help you learn the skills
needed to become a self-sufficient mountaineer. $1195. Maximum
4 participants.

Custom Mountaineering Trips
Most guided mountaineering trips are arranged as a personalized
itinerary to best suit your skill level and ambitions, as well as to
take advantage of seasonal conditions. Custom itineraries can include a
combination of guided ascents and skills training in mountaineering as
well as rock and/or ice climbing. Check out the Climbing Calendar
to get an idea of what types of climbs are best at different times of
the year.
No climbing
experience of any sort is required to plan a custom mountaineering
trip. Anyone with basic hiking fitness can enjoy mountaineering!
The
Canadian Rockies are home to thousands of peaks with many thousands of

Canadian Rockies Alpine Guides also offer trips to other world class

Bugaboos
- Some of the world's best
granite climbing, high above spectacular glaciers and alpine meadows in
Southern BC. There are great routes at all levels of difficulty on
Snowpatch Spire, Bugaboo Spire, Howser Towers, and much more!
Valhalla Range
- This little known gem in a
remote area of Southern BC, offers spectacular alpine rock climbing in
a true wilderness setting with a generally sunny climate. The South
Ridge of Mt. Gimli is the showpiece of the area and is one of the best
climbs anywhere. There are also lots of other options from fun 4th
Class scrambles to very difficult 5.11+ bigwalls.
Roger's
Pass A wide variety of climbing
options are available in this historic area. From fun scrambles, to
scenic glaciers, to massive rock ridges, the Rogers Pass has something
for everyone.
